TIPTOE by Agathe Marty

What does TIPTOE look like through the eyes of an artist?

Constantly in search of inspiration, we gave carte blanche to artists to adapt our pieces in their universe. This way, we can mix two creative fields and discover TIPTOE in a new light.

Hello Agathe, can you introduce yourself?

My name is Agathe Marty, I’m 29 years old and I live in the south of France. I am an illustrator and pattern designer. After traveling and living in Australia for 4 and a half years, I came back to France in 2019 and that’s when I started my activity as a freelance illustrator.

How do you define your creative universe?

My universe is solar, feminine and rather minimalist. I like to play with textures, lines and warm, soft colours. I work on women’s portraits as well as lifestyle scenes or abstract illustrations. I don’t limit myself to a specific style, I draw what inspires me in general.

Where do you find inspiration on a daily basis?

Mainly from my travels and places I would like to go. I also get a lot of inspiration from the little details of everyday life. I am very aware of the shapes and colours around me. I like to look at the composition of things that surround me on a daily basis, a dried flower in a vase, a half-closed shutter on a sunny facade, books on a shelf in an interior, decorative touches in people’s homes… I look at everything, everywhere, all the time.

How do you define your creative universe?

I work from home, so my house and my interior in particular are important to me. I need to feel comfortable in my cocoon to be able to draw and work without getting tired of my surroundings. I like simple shapes, textures, warm colours, and a deliberate minimalism.

What is your vision of TIPTOE?

I really like the minimalism and functionality of the TIPTOE pieces, with the subtle care of the lines and colours. They are practical pieces but also aesthetically very beautiful and easy to place in an interior.

What appealed to you about integrating the new NOD lamp into your world?

I love the lines of this lamp, its curves and its timelessness. It can fit into any interior and the colour selection is just perfect! It was quite easy to imagine it as an illustration, it fits perfectly with the aesthetic I like to draw.

Any recent creative discoveries to share with us?

Staying in the home, I’m an absolute fan of a brand of ceramic tableware called POPOLO. I am currently very inspired by the work of Joan Miró, who needs no introduction, but whose work I recently rediscovered. I find these works to be just perfection. And finally, the American artist Calder whose oil paintings and lithographs are very inspiring.

A cool address to share?

I don’t live in Bordeaux, but I love the city and go there very often for work and to visit friends and family. I recently spent a great evening at Mazal, an Israeli restaurant where the atmosphere is crazy and the menu is delicious!
