Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Florence, illustrator since 2016 after starting out as a graphic designer. I’m French and have been living in Montreal for 7 years, where winters are all white and summers are parties. I’m passionate about my job and have this infinite luck to be able to get up every day happy to go spend a new day doing something I love.
How would you describe your creative world?
I’d say very colorful! I love to create color palettes for each of my illustrations to vary them, and I also particularly like to work on the play of textures, light and shadow. I love little details, things that sparkle and catch the eye, I’m very inspired by everyday life, the shapes and colors we notice in the course of our lives, and I always like to bring something a little poetic to my work in one way or another. I’m pretty insatiable, so I always have to try something new, whether it’s on my digital illustrations or my traditional paintings or drawings.
Where did you find your inspiration for this collaboration?
I visualized a moment in life in which I’d feel good: a table, the spring sun gently warming the skin with its first rays, the shade of freshly green leaves, birds coming back to sing after winter and peck at the last crumbs of a meal. I really like the cheerful yellow used by Tiptoe, and thought it was perfect to use as a base to build this little scene all around!
Can you tell us about a place where you feel good?
The Montreal Botanical Garden in midsummer. I love going there to spend the afternoon reading and drawing in the shade of the trees. Nature, calm, trees, rustling leaves, birdsong and a tall glass of Diabolo grenadine are all ingredients I cherish and find soothing.
