The dimensions of your dining table should be defined according to the number of seats you want, as well as the size of the room where you will place your table. As a first step, you should therefore take the measurements of your room.

For the height, there should be enough space under the tabletop for leg comfort. We therefore recommend a standard height of 75 cm, like our designer table leg of the same height.

You should also consider how guests will move around the table, especially when sitting down and getting up. The seats around your table should therefore preferably not be placed against a wall, so your guests do not feel cramped. For optimal comfort, allow 60 cm of clearance around each seat.

Below are the recommendations for rectangular tabletops:

• Dimensions for a table seating 2 to 4 people: 120 x 60 cm tabletop, 3 to 4 cm thick
• Dimensions for a table seating 4 to 6 people: 150 x 75 cm tabletop, 4 cm thick
• Dimensions for a table seating 6 to 8 people: 180 x 90 cm tabletop, 4 cm thick

For more generous formats that can seat up to 10 or 12 people, the tabletop length should exceed 180 cm. With this configuration, you will need to add two additional table legs to ensure optimal stability. You can choose a 240 x 120 cm or 360 x 90 cm rectangular dining table, depending on the seating arrangement for your guests.

Thanks to their shape, round dining tables naturally encourage conviviality. They are also the ideal table when there is an odd number of people around it.

The diameter of a standard round table is between 105 and 120 cm, making it easy to seat up to 6 people. For larger gatherings, a minimum diameter of 150 cm is recommended. 

A square dining table lends itself to sharing and convivial conversation. The tabletop needs minimum dimensions to provide enough space for place settings, but above all to sit comfortably.

The recycled plastic tops of NEW MODERN tables are resistant to everyday stains and moderate heat. Recycled plastic is a noble, innovative material that needs to be cared for. Regular cleaning with a soft damp cloth is enough. Like wood or stone, recycled plastic is sensitive to certain chemical products such as solvents, strippers and strong detergents. This is why we strongly advise against using chemical products on any of our tabletop types.

The eco-certified wooden tops of our dining tables are made of solid wood covered with oak veneer. The wood comes from sustainably managed, eco-labelled forests in France and Croatia.

The reclaimed wood used for our recycled solid oak tops comes from old European buildings scheduled for demolition, such as farms or barns. Our aim was to give this authentic material a second life: each top is unique, with time-worn marks, irregularities and knots. These reclaimed wood tops are produced in Croatia.
