TIPTOE
TIPTOE’s mission is to create durable furniture that is better designed and better produced.
Every year, 10 million tonnes of furniture are thrown away in Europe. We want to shake up the industry by taking the opposite approach.
It all begins at the foot of Mont Blanc
In the Chamonix valley, more precisely, where Matthieu, co-founder of TIPTOE, comes from. His grandfather founded a metal machining workshop there, where parts of our products are still made.
Growing up in the mountains, Matthieu developed a heightened sensitivity to nature, which naturally became one of TIPTOE’s core values.
Carefully sourced materials
We use a lot of steel (hello TIPTOE table legs!), which is the most recycled material in the world.
All our wood comes from sustainably managed forests and is certified by the PEFC label. This label guarantees a product that complies with strict traceability rules and comes from responsible, controlled sources from a social, economic, and environmental standpoint.
Responsible packaging
Our packaging is 100% made in France, made with at least 80% recycled paper. All our products are shipped flat-packed, which helps reduce CO2 emissions during transport and means a lower impact on our planet!
100% Made in Europe
And that’s very rare! Awareness of eco-responsibility is very slow in the furniture sector (much more so than in cosmetics or fashion, for example).
We work with family-run SMEs based on the best know-how in each region of Europe. On the map, here are our production sites!
And for the future?
Here are 3 projects that will be implemented in the coming months:
- Offer some of our products in a recycled plastic version.
- Offer reclaimed wood tabletops made from boards from old barns, former homes, or train floors.
- Set up a circular system for refurbishing our products. We’re already seeing this kind of initiative in sectors like electronics, so why not furniture?
Not everything is perfect yet, but it’s important to us to be transparent and explain where we are and where we’re headed!
