TIPTOE by Iga Kosicka
What does TIPTOE look like through an artist’s eyes?
Constantly in search of inspiration, we gave artists carte blanche to reinterpret our pieces through their own universe. A way to bring together two creative fields and discover TIPTOE from a different perspective. Meet Iga Kosicka, illustrator and art historian.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Iga Kosicka and I am an illustrator and art historian based in Copenhagen. My clients include both private individuals and lifestyle/design companies, but a significant part of my work also involves designing and distributing art prints, which are now available worldwide.
How would you define your creative universe?
I would describe it as nostalgic and colorful; still, yet vibrant with textures. There is something about the city and solitude that catches my attention. It is a selection of what I see and experience, filtered through colors that match my mood.
Where do you find inspiration day to day?
I find inspiration in everyday objects and real-life situations. I often take a photo of a scene I would like to illustrate. Sometimes I go back to old photos I took a few years earlier and try to find something that could inspire me today, something I could use for my current project.
How much importance do you give to your home? What does it say about you?
We live in a compact apartment that, over the years, has had to adapt to the changing needs of our small but ever-growing family. That’s why there is always a home project on the horizon, whether big or small, but there is always something we can improve in our daily lives. Because space is limited, we try to keep things simple, yet warm and colorful.
What’s your vision of TIPTOE?
I like the brand’s sustainable approach – table legs that can be reused with another product, recycled wood and recycled plastic. All of this makes TIPTOE unique and proves that beautiful, well-designed furniture can go hand in hand with thoughtfulness and respect for the environment.
Why did you choose the KIDS collection?
I had been looking for a table for my son for a few months, so we could play tea party properly, but I couldn’t find anything I really liked. I felt that all the products available on the market were far too dull for us. Then I saw a table and stool from TIPTOE’s KIDS collection, made from recycled plastic. It was perfect, with all the colors and the blue steel elements. When my son is older, I’m thinking of turning it into a coffee table in our living room.
An address to share with every visitor to Copenhagen?
I highly recommend relaxing in the garden of the Royal Library. It’s a hidden gem in Copenhagen, while still being very close to the canal and parliament, giving it a very central location. For me, this place is so unique that I decided to include it in my illustrated guide to Copenhagen. In spring and summer, it’s filled with flowers of every kind and, on top of that, the chairs placed at random around the garden add colorful accents. It’s a true oasis of peace, where you can sit and read a chapter of your favorite book or one you’ve just borrowed from the library. Maybe TIPTOE should consider adding a pair of their beautiful chairs to our garden collection. Just an idea…
