TIPTOE by Agnes Bic

Could you introduce yourself?

Hi, my name is Agnès, and I’m known as Agnesbic for my illustration work. I’m Italian/British, grew up in Tuscany, and now live near the sea in Sussex.

How would you define your creative world?

Playful, a little rebellious, colorful, and optimistic. My inspiration comes from almost every aspect of my life: conversations, a visit to the flea market, a book, noticing street typography while walking, looking closely at nature…

How important is your interior to you?

My home is the place where I can be creative and let my ideas develop, so creating the right atmosphere is really important. It’s also a space that changes as I change; it’s like a treasure box filled with travel memories and an ever-growing collection of chairs.

What is your vision of TIPTOE?

I was thinking about how TIPTOE pieces can easily become an integral part of our lives thanks to their great versatility. With the upcoming Paris Olympic Games in mind, I chose to represent the good feeling you get after playing sport as part of everyday life. I had fun choosing TIPTOE furniture to place in my imaginary post-sport scenes.

What made you want to bring our objects into your world?

I really love collaborations where I’m given a lot of creative freedom, like this one. The designs in the TIPTOE collection naturally lend themselves to the simple, elegant forms I’m always drawn to in my work.

Any recent creative discoveries to share with us?

I recently bought a wonderful photo book called “Ordinary Things Will Be Signs For Us” by Corita Kent. It is a collection of 35 mm slides, mostly taken in the 1960s. The warm colors and her eye for striking compositions are very inspiring.

Your favorite place?

I love the sea. One of my favorite places from my recent travels is called Elk, a deserted beach in Northern California, full of pelicans and interesting driftwood.
