DIY: make your own coffee table
The coffee table, an essential piece of furniture in a living room, can be difficult to choose from among all the options available. Between the dimensions, style, materials and price, it’s not always easy to find your way around. Why not make your own coffee table? Beyond its functionality, you’re free to imagine an original, unique piece of furniture, perfect for your home. At Tiptoe, we share our tips for creating the coffee table of your dreams.
Why make your own DIY coffee table?
Making your own coffee table offers undeniable economic benefits and allows for complete customization to suit your tastes and interior style. It is also a fun introduction to DIY and a creative solution for your living room. What’s more, the satisfaction of having made a piece of furniture yourself is incomparable.
So why not try your hand at this creative activity?
Our coffee table leg: an innovative solution
Following the success of the iconic 75 cm table leg, Tiptoe goes one step further with its 43 cm coffee table legs, a true showcase of design.
Thanks to this modular table leg, you can create design furniture in just a few minutes and without tools that is practical, sturdy and truly reflects your style. This is made possible by our patented clamping screw system, which adapts to all kinds of tabletops.
Our recommendations for choosing the tabletop for a DIY coffee table
A few guidelines should be followed when creating your DIY coffee table.
- tabletop dimensions: up to 150×100 cm for a rectangular tabletop and 120 cm in diameter for a round tabletop
- recommended thickness: 20 to 40 mm
- maximum weight: 70 kg
And as always, avoid choosing glass, marble or any other breakable material.
How to make a DIY coffee table?
Creating a coffee table has never been easier with Tiptoe: simply choose 3 or 4 coffee table legs depending on the size of your tabletop. For round coffee tables, we recommend using 3 legs. For rectangular or square coffee tables, 4 legs are needed.
Quick and easy assembly
With small Tiptoe legs, every piece of furniture is different. Contrary to popular belief, this may be the simplest step:
- place the legs on your top in the desired position
- tighten each leg by hand with the tightening screw, then finish with the Allen key provided
That’s it! It’s so easy to make your own DIY coffee table…

COFFEE TABLE LEGSRectangular coffee tables
To make her DIY coffee table, Annette used a recycled rectangular antique wooden top. Laura opted for a long, rectangular wooden top in oversized dimensions. This superb wooden coffee table blends harmoniously into her interior décor.
Round coffee tables
A new trend in interior design, curves are making their way onto small furniture. Lauriane chose the classic wooden coffee table paired with black table legs for a sleek living room. Special mention goes to Kamila’s DIY coffee table in recycled plastic, paired with our yellow table legs to complete a modern, designer décor.
An oval coffee table
Fanny aimed for elegance in her living room décor with her oval coffee table, whose white plastic top complements the eucalyptus grey legs in a ballet with a very natural aesthetic. A must-have for the green trend
A coffee table with original shapes
For her living room, Jasmine chose a wooden top with organic shapes for an original coffee table. Its soft, rounded lines remind us of pebbles along the shoreline. The solid oak top enhances this natural feel and fits beautifully into her home.

SMALL TIPTOE TABLE LEGS
Modern style
A rectangular wooden coffee table with a clean design is always a winning choice. In her living room, Nina opted for understated elegance with a soft colour palette contrasted by the black metal of our coffee table legs.
Scandinavian style
Nordic style is a must-have in interior design. To bring a cosy Scandinavian feel to your living room, do as Louise did and choose a light wood tabletop that adds warmth to your interior.
Industrial style
For an industrial style with an upcycled feel, why not recycle an old pallet, like Lorraine? We love how she paired it with black metal legs. Two raw materials that bring character to her industrial decor. Marianne also chose a DIY coffee table with a recycled pallet. An industrial style enhanced by the clean design of Tiptoe legs.
Rustic style
Head to the countryside with Julie and Lila’s creations. Our customers made their DIY coffee tables by reclaiming, for one, the door of an old farmhouse, and for the other, the shutter of an old barn. The contrast of wood and metal creates a rustic, country feel—something we certainly appreciate.

Plastic coffee tables
Plastic coffee tables are perfect allies for modern and contemporary interiors. Lucie chose a round white recycled plastic coffee table, paired with pink legs that perfectly enhance the rosy tones of her décor. Julia, meanwhile, fell for the blue recycled plastic coffee table, a bold splash of colour that makes a real impact and highlights her sofa.
Concrete coffee tables
Our favourite is Valériane’s decidedly colour-block, contemporary look, combining a concrete top with our sunflower-yellow metal legs. A beautiful DIY coffee table full of energy, with a unique urban design.
