What size of desktop is best for you?
Your office has been completely repainted, your files have been stored in boxes, and your swivel chair rolls perfectly. All that’s left is to choose your desk, and therefore the dimensions of its top. For anyone who doesn’t do DIY or handle measuring tapes all day long, it can be hard to know exactly whether to go for a small top, or whether you can dream of a longer, wider one. So TIPTOE rolled up its sleeves, took out its pencil and ruler, and measured all its desk tops for you !
Top dimensions for a standard desk
When choosing your desk, the first question you’ll need to ask yourself is how much space you have to accommodate it. Because an original desk needs at least a little room to truly shine!
If the floor area of your interior allows you to choose a standard desk, opt for a rectangular top measuring 120 cm long and 60 cm wide. The ideal thickness is between 30 and 40 mm.
The NOMA desk
At TIPTOE, several products can enhance your desk area! This is the case, for example, with the NOMA desk, measuring 120 x 60 cm. This desk with steel legs features a beautiful oak top. NOMA is also available with a recycled old wood top. It will easily find its place in any type of space.
The MONOCHROME desk offers the same 120 x 60 cm dimensions, along with an oak top. It provides extra comfort thanks to its WAVE storage module and three steel drawers.
Have you fallen for the storage module and already have a longer tabletop? The WAVE drawers can also be attached to these more generous tabletops. Simply place the legs 120 cm apart along the length where WAVE is installed.
For those who want to optimize their space, the 120 x 60 cm wall-mounted desk is the ideal solution: your wall replaces two of its legs! Practical and on-trend.
Top dimensions for small interiors
Because a small space deserves its own little desk too, TIPTOE has designed a 120 x 30 cm wooden top in solid oak.
In general, when an interior calls for smaller wooden tops, we recommend choosing lengths under 120 cm and widths under 60 cm. Thicknesses are always in the 30 to 40 mm range.
LIMA, the occasional desk
Made by TIPTOE, discover the minimalist tabletops of the LIMA solid oak occasional desk as well as its twin version in recycled old wood. Both desks offer a rectangular tabletop format measuring 120 x 30 cm. The ideal compromise for anyone who can’t have a large desk but won’t compromise on manufacturing methods or style!
Tabletop sizes for large desks
If you’re lucky enough to be able to fit a large desk, go for a tabletop 150 cm long and 75 cm wide. With this model, the thickness must be 40 mm. And this recommendation applies to all desks measuring more than 1.50 cm long.
TIPTOE has gone big with its BALTHAZAR 150 x 75 cm model in recycled old wood. Also suitable as a dining table, this oversize desk will give you all the comfort you need to spread out your files and organize your pens by color!
A twin version of BALTHAZAR is also available with an oak tabletop. Its dimensions and use remain the same.
Please note that with both models, two people can easily work side by side without mixing up your lecture notes, meeting reports or pens!

Whatever the layout of your interior, you’re sure to find a beautiful tabletop model to enhance it. TIPTOE recommends first taking measurements in situ before looking for the desk of your dreams. You’ll have a (slightly) clearer idea of the space the piece will take up, and can then adjust your requirements down or up depending on the situation.
