Tiptoe by Gabrielle Cooper-Weisz
Can you introduce yourself?
I’m Gabrielle Cooper-Weisz, I’m French and I grew up in Paris, where I still live. I studied for 5 years at École Estienne before going on to complete a master’s degree in Semiology at La Sorbonne. I then worked for 5 years as an Art Director in an advertising agency before moving into illustration full-time a few years ago.
How would you describe your creative world?
Rather colorful, quite rounded. I enjoy drawing landscapes as much as characters, and adding details to my scenes. The sea is often there because I miss it when I’m in Paris.
Where did you find your inspiration for this collaboration?
I looked through the different Tiptoe collections to compose my setting, and I wanted to depict an everyday scene in the soft light of late afternoon. Those small, suspended, ordinary moments. I also thought of Tom Goyon’s world, as he often creates scenes with great sensitivity.
Can you share a place where you feel good?
On Belle-Île-en-Mer, along the cliffs I know by heart and rediscover on every walk, lulled by the sound of the waves and the cry of the seagulls. It’s an endless source of inspiration!
