To create a bookcase on a wall, you’ll need the following items: one or more shelf boards, one or more wall brackets, a pencil, a drill, screws, and wall plugs. Once everything is ready, it’s time to install your piece of furniture. With TIPTOE, you can mount your designer wall bookcase simply, quickly, and with no major work required. Follow the guide:

• Place your wall bracket against the wall and mark the position of the three holes with a pencil.
• Using a spirit level, make sure your wall brackets are positioned on the same horizontal line.
• Drill into the wall at the pre-marked points and insert the wall plugs, then the brackets, and screw everything into place.
• Place the wall shelf into the wall brackets and tighten the knob by hand.
• Finish tightening with the Allen key we provide.

And there you have it, it’s already done! Your wall-mounted bookcase is ready to hold all your favorite books.

• We strongly advise against using brittle materials such as glass, marble or stone.

Before installing your wall-mounted bookcase on the walls, it is important to determine the dimensions of the shelves.

For a wall-mounted bookcase, choose a minimum length of one meter, and if space allows, up to 2 meters. For the width, take into account the size of the books you plan to display. Standard books are between 11 and 16 cm wide, but larger ones can be up to 20 cm. We therefore recommend a width of between 18 and 22 cm. At TIPTOE, we offer two sizes of wooden designer wall-mounted bookcase: 120×20 cm or 150×20 cm.

For a simple wall shelf, there are few constraints when choosing the dimensions. The length of a simple shelf can start at 15 cm and extend to more than two meters. For the width of your shelf, it should ideally be between 15 and 25 cm.

To create a designer wall bookcase, you once again need to take the height of your books into account. Paperbacks and novels range from 15 to 25 cm, while comics or collector’s books can be up to 40 cm. For a wall-mounted bookcase with smaller books, the spacing between each shelf should be between 25 and 30 cm. This spacing should be at least 42 cm for larger books.

Our advice? To optimize space, place your tallest books on the highest shelf. This way, you won’t have any spacing constraints between two shelves in your bookcase.

The layout of your wall-mounted bookcase can be tailored to suit your preferences. For example, you can align your bookcase shelves with one another, keeping the same spacing each time. For a more original look, you can arrange your shelves asymmetrically with different spacing between them. You can also vary the size of the shelf tops for an even more unique decor.

To determine the height of your wall-mounted bookcase from the floor, consider its location in the home and how it will be used. For a wall-mounted bookcase in a living room, bedroom or office, the first shelf can start at around 1 m high so it is not too close to the floor, while leaving room for storage furniture, for example.

If you simply want to place a decorative shelf in a room in your home, you are free to choose the height. Always keep practicality in mind, so its position does not get in the way. For example, do not place it on a wall behind a door, or too close to your bed where you might hit your head.
