The recycled plastic chair: a new milestone reached
The SSDr chair is the result of a bold year-and-a-half-long development process to create a beautiful, useful and durable object in an industry that very often uses virgin plastic. The SSDr chair marks a new milestone in our ambition to create sustainable furniture.
In this version of the SSD chair, the seat and backrest are not made of wood but of recycled PP plastic. PP, or polypropylene, is a plastic with a wide range of industrial applications.
SSDr: Simple, Strong, Durable and Recycled
SSDr is SIMPLE : this chair assembles in 2 minutes with just one screw and is made of only 5 easily-replaceable parts.
SSDr is STRONG : this chair is 100% made in Europe with SMEs with exceptional know-how inclunding our family factory based in France, near Chamonix.
SSDr is DURABLE : the chair is made of durable and eco-responsible materials. It is delivered in a flat packaging made of at least 80% recycled paper. The SSDr pack is about three times more compact than a conventional chair, which reduces CO2 emissions during differents storage and shipping phases.
SSDr is RECYCLED : the backrest and seat of the SSDr chair are made from recycled PP plastic.
Recycled PP plastic
For this version of the SSD chair, we use PP plastic (polypropylene) because of its specific technical and mechanical properties, combining flexibility and esistance.
Polypropylene is a plastic used in a wide range of industrial applications: food containers, automotive parts and household appliances.
In the furniture sector, the vast majority of plastic objects are made from virgin plastic, and the integration of recycled plastic into manufacturing processes is still in its early stages. With the SSDr chair, the aim is to give waste a second life, enhance its value and use it to create a new object that is beautiful, useful and durable.
In addition, the various components of the SSDr chair have been carefully selected so that the chair can be recycled, while also being 100% recyclable !

The SSDr chair is distinguished by the nobility of its materials and the quality of its finish. Its light appearance coupled with a monochrome look make it an elegant and contemporary chair. Thanks to its clear and assertive lines, the SSDr chair has the ability to energize a room.
In line with our product design DNA, the legs of the SSDr chair are made of powder coated steel and come in the same colours as the TIPTOE legs. The colours have been designed to match the wood of the TIPTOE tables.
The SSDr chair aims to prove that it is possible to give a second life to waste materials to create beautiful and useful objects.
