What does TIPTOE look like through an artist’s eyes?
Constantly seeking inspiration, we gave artists carte blanche to make our pieces their own within their creative universe. A way to bring together two creative fields and discover TIPTOE from a new perspective. Today, we’re sharing the work of Sara Odman, a painter. Inspired by the nature she grew up around, Sara brings colorful, dynamic abstract canvases to life.
Hello Sara, could you introduce yourself?
Swedish by origin, I have been living in France for 20 years. I am an Art Director and painter, passionate about the feeling of freedom that creativity brings.
What is your background?
In my early twenties, I left southern Sweden to move to Paris, where I studied and worked for 10 years. A graduate with a Master’s degree in Art Direction from ESAG Penninghen, my design work has spanned different disciplines, including window display design, brand identity, and packaging design in the luxury and ready-to-wear sectors. While working in Beijing, I had my first encounter with textile and print design—a true discovery, and a passion that inspires me every day.
How would you describe your creative universe?
Alive, in motion, colorful.
Where do you draw your daily inspiration from?
Creating has always been a part of me; I like to illustrate what I see, what I imagine. The blank page calls to me. I come from an artistic family where art has always been a means of expression. Imagination and the need to “make,” to experiment, are the resources that help me feel alive. Surrounded by meadows and the ocean throughout my childhood, nature is entirely part of me; it is my roots, my source of inspiration: an endless treasure trove of combined shapes and colors. I love playing with them. My paintings are the abstract reflection of these encounters.
How important is your interior to you? What does it say about you?
I attach a lot of importance to it. I believe it should, in a way, express who we are. I bring in the colors of my childhood, a distinctly Scandinavian spirit, natural shapes and materials, and of course a French touch! Decoration, like design, needs to know how to find its own impulse. That thing within us that expresses itself without having to be restrained… My family and I have just moved into a new house… I’m right in the middle of it!

Why did you agree to this project with TIPTOE?
I already knew TIPTOE. I love it! Collaborating with you and interpreting one of your furniture pieces in my own way appealed to me straight away! Combining your sleek design with my own world was hugely inspiring.
What is your vision of TIPTOE?
A timeless, high-quality design, refined and elegant all at once.
