TIPTOE by Capucine Mattuissi
Hello Capucine! Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Capucine Mattiussi and I’m a freelance illustrator in Paris. I work for different types of clients (music, restaurants, publishing, etc.), but I also hold exhibitions where I sell art prints, which are then available on my website. I work across different mediums, such as painting on wood, murals (restaurant storefronts), and digital.
How would you define your creative world?
My world and style have become more refined through projects, work, and a diverse range of clients, while always keeping the same inspirations drawn straight from 60s/70s rock, a proudly Mediterranean DNA, and an obsession with flat areas of color.
Where do you find inspiration every day?
Mostly in music, record stores, exhibitions, and everyday encounters!
What role does your interior play for you? What does it say about you?
It’s a very important place for me: it’s my studio, my storage space, and, incidentally, my apartment. It’s a true cabinet of curiosities, with my main sources of inspiration, objects that carry stories, and that trace the path I’ve taken since I started illustration.
Why did you choose to illustrate the DUKE bench?
A bench is a cool piece to have at home: you can sit on it, use it as a decorative object, and place things on it. And for the drawing, the format was perfect for drawing live on it!
What is your vision for the collaboration between TIPTOE and Bonjour Jacob?
It’s a super creative place and a design brand, so it’s a great fit! I loved doing this performance for Design Week; it was a wonderful evening with some great encounters.
Any recent creative discovery you’d like to share with us?
I discovered the artist Cépé (@cepe_gram)! I love the way she handles light, colors, and the perspective of her characters.
