Meet Manesse, a passionate entrepreneur who created La Permanence in 2017: workspaces open 24/7. He tells us about his project and why he wanted to revolutionize workspaces. Manesse chose TIPTOE table legs and the SSD chair to furnish his spaces, and he explains why.
Manesse, tell us about your project?
We opened our first La Permanence space in January 2017, exactly 3 years ago. Our original idea was very simple and aimed to address a major issue for Parisian students: it’s hard to find a seat in a library. They open too late and close too early. And to top it all off, there is often a queue to get in.
Our idea was to offer an alternative to all of this: a space open 24/7, 365 days a year, for €1/hour. We set ourselves the mission of being that space that is always open, without any interruption, where you can be sure to find a comfortable place to work in good conditions.
Over time, a community of entrepreneurs and freelancers has joined our spaces, and today our customer base is split almost 50/50 between students and professionals.
We want to offer streamlined, thoughtfully designed spaces that truly help people concentrate, work, and achieve their personal ambitions. All at a very affordable price, so everyone can come whenever they like.
How do you see this space or your concept evolving?
We want to enrich our spaces with new features: focus pods, little corners for taking a nap, small phone booths, compact meeting rooms for informal meetings, etc…
This year, we want to open several spaces, especially in major regional cities: Bordeaux, Lyon, and Marseille.
Why did you choose TIPTOE table legs? What do you like about them, and how do you integrate them into this space?
We chose TIPTOE table legs for 2 reasons:
– the modularity, which allows us to adapt the format of our tables endlessly so they fit into every possible corner and meet as many constraints as possible in the premises we operate.
– the robustness of the material: TIPTOE means unbreakable table legs that last forever. For us, as we use our premises and furniture commercially, that’s extremely important.
