Tiptoe by Atelier Mouette
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Florence, and I’ve been an illustrator since 2016 after starting out as a graphic designer. I’m French and have lived in Montreal for 7 years, where the winters are all white and the summers are celebrations. I’m passionate about my work and have the incredible good fortune to wake up every day happy to spend another day doing something I love.
How would you describe your creative world?
I would say very colorful! I really enjoy creating color palettes for each of my illustrations to give them variety, and I also especially like working with textures, shadows, and light. I love little details, things that shine and catch the eye. I’m very inspired by everyday life, by the shapes and colors we notice as our lives unfold, and I always like to bring something a little poetic to my work in one way or another. I’m quite insatiable; I always need to try something else, whether in my digital illustrations or in my traditional paintings and drawings.
Where did you find your inspiration for this collaboration?
I pictured a moment in life where I would feel good: a table, the spring sun returning to gently warm the skin with its first rays, the shade of freshly green leaves, birds coming back to sing after winter and peck at the last crumbs of a meal. I really love this very cheerful yellow used by Tiptoe; I thought it was perfect as a base for building this little scene around it!
Can you share a place where you feel good?
The Montreal Botanical Garden in the middle of summer. I love going there to spend the afternoon reading and drawing in the shade of the trees. Nature, the calm, the trees, the rustling of the leaves, birdsong, and a big glass of Diabolo grenadine are truly ingredients I cherish and that soothe me.
