Les Pénates and TIPTOE, a long-standing story
Les Pénates is part of the history of TIPTOE’s retailers. Much loved for its charm and poetry, the shop-workshop located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris perfectly reflects TIPTOE’s values. Pierre and Olivier’s porcelain lighting creations are made in the workshop, and the shop offers a curated selection of décor and furniture from beautiful European brands.
Pierre, could you introduce yourself and the concept behind your shop Les Pénates?
I’m Pierre Maggi, founder of the shop-workshop Les Pénates, located at 15 rue Jean Macé in the 11th arrondissement. In collaboration with Olivier Vallaeys, the creator of Ovalum lighting, we present a range of porcelain lighting entirely made in our workshop. Around our lighting, we offer decorative and furnishing pieces from French or European brands, artisans, and young designers.
Why did you choose TIPTOE for your shop?
TIPTOE fully meets our criteria: a young French brand, a simple and appealing concept, a well-made and affordable product. The TIPTOE table leg was an immediate favorite!
How long have you been working with TIPTOE?
As soon as TIPTOE decided to create a network of retail partners, we were ready to get involved! We already knew and liked each other a little, and we’d had the opportunity to lend them our lighting for a catalog shoot.
What is your favorite TIPTOE product?
ALL OF THEM!!! With a soft spot for the newest addition, the SSD chair. A beautiful silhouette and impressively comfortable.
What object or collaboration would you like TIPTOE to create?
A bookcase, an armchair, a sofa… a complete furniture range created with TIPTOE talent.
What projects do your customers have with TIPTOE products?
Lots of different projects: the table leg remains the flagship product that allows them to rethink a table project. Then “accessorize” this table with stools, boldly mixing colors.
