Charm and modernity for Aline and Fabien
Welcome to Fabien and Aline’s home. These lovers of simple, clean-lined things chose TIPTOE to furnish their Parisian apartment with a warm feel. They were among the lucky few to discover our first version of tables made from recycled antique wood, which bring a great deal of authenticity and charm to an interior! Read their interview!
Aline and Fabien, could you introduce yourselves? What is your family story?
We have been together for 10 years and have been living in Paris for 8 years. We moved to Batignolles in March 2018 and had Hugo in April 2018.
What are your tastes and inspirations when it comes to decor?
We like things with a simple, clean and understated design. We love the warmth of wood and quality materials. In terms of inspiration, we really like the Charles Eames style and iconic lighting, such as the Vertigo pendant light or the Atollo lamp, for example in black to echo our glass partition and our radiator.
How would you describe your style? What do you think is the most important thing in an apartment?
It’s a Parisian, modern and cozy atmosphere with the charm of Haussmann style, fireplaces and moldings. We carried out quite a lot of renovation work in the apartment, including creating the glass partition to make an additional bedroom, our son’s. We also chose a black-and-white bathroom with cement tiles on the floor, which echoes the overall style of the apartment (black and white). The most important part of an apartment is the living space, which for us is the living room–dining room; we feel really good there.
Why did you choose TIPTOE furniture? What do you like about it?
We were looking for a table with the charm of old wood and a modern touch thanks to the TIPTOE legs. The leg color, Antique Steel, was a perfect fit for our style. What we like about TIPTOE is how easy it is to assemble, how ingenious it is, and the fact that we’ll be able to keep this table even in another apartment.
What TIPTOE creation would you like to make?
The atmosphere of our bedroom isn’t quite finished yet; we have the DUKE bench, which has found its place, but we’d like to add shelves above it.
