Black For Good : TIPTOE supports Toit à Moi association

For Black Friday 2019, we joined the Black For Good collective initiated by Typology. One year later, it’s an opportunity to look back on this initiative, with good news: this year again, we’re taking part in the Black For Good movement!

At TIPTOE, we decided to support the Toit à Moi association once again. In 2019, thanks to your orders, we were able to donate €5,000 worth of TIPTOE furniture to furnish apartments that will house homeless people!

TIPTOE joins Black For Good

Black For Good is a solidarity movement bringing together nearly 80 brands that want to take the opposite approach to Black Friday by doing a good deed. Over the Black Friday weekend, the brands therefore commit to donating part of their sales to an association of their choice.

Our goal? To transform this key moment in consumption into a moment of generosity and brand commitment. In practical terms? TIPTOE is committed to donating 10% of its Black Friday weekend revenue in furniture to the Toit à Moi association.

What is the principle behind the Toit à Moi association?

Toit à Moi is an association whose goal is to raise funds to house homeless people, while also finding volunteers to support them and help them make lasting changes in their lives. The donations collected are used to buy apartments in several cities across France and turn them into true havens to welcome their new occupants.

How did Toit à moi begin?

In 2007, on a winter’s day, after giving a coin to a beggar, Denis Castin felt the need to go further. From his sense of indignation came a very simple idea: what if, together, we could provide housing for people in need? With the help of Gwenaël Morvan, they developed the project and created the association. The initial goal: to raise funds to house homeless people and find volunteers to support them.

How long has TIPTOE supported Toit à Moi?

TIPTOE founders Matthieu and Vincent have been personal donors to the association for several years. When the association shared its furniture needs, TIPTOE did not hesitate to provide the furniture they needed to furnish its apartments.

Why does TIPTOE support Toit à Moi?

The entire TIPTOE team is moved by this association’s story and deeply convinced that housing plays a role in reintegration and in creating new life plans for people experiencing homelessness. Naturally, TIPTOE furniture has its place in Toit à Moi apartments to help support the association.

Why donate furniture rather than money?

Our mission to create durable furniture is a perfect match for Toit à Moi’s needs. Once apartments have been purchased thanks to donations, they need to be furnished for the long term. By providing TIPTOE furniture for these apartments, we want to support the association in a very concrete and tangible way. And the whole Toit à Moi team says it best: what could be better than coming home to your new place and finding beautiful, colorful furniture that makes you feel good?

Today, Toit à Moi is active in Toulouse, Nantes, Angers, La Ferté-sous-Jouarre, Lille, Lyon and Bordeaux. The association has 32 apartments, 73 people supported, 536 sponsors and 75 volunteers! A huge thank you to them for their work and commitment. Please support them if you can!
